Ode to Joy brings an energetic sound to their events. The members John and Robin enjoy playing music from several genres including: classical, Celtic fiddle, oldies, Jazz, blues, and contemporary and even a little country. These talented and dedicated professionals enjoy creating a happy and relaxed atmosphere with their music. Both John and Robin both hail from unique Philadelphia musical traditions. John received his start by singing in doo wop groups performing on the street corners and in local clubs in the city. Though classically trained Robin began playing at the Celtic fiddle music at the Irish center for local dances and clubs. Today they have been playing locally for more than four years as Ode to Joy. Their intention is to bring a celebratory sound to a special event or venue. Blending different styles in to a dynamic sound, John can be on vocals and guitar while Robin’s fiddle embellishes the sound with harmonies and traditional fiddle music. Robin experience in performing in local orchestras and ensembles has helped her land a opportunities to play in weddings and at birthday parties and graduations etc. Both have been members of local barbershop groups. While John performs on acoustic guitar as well a jazz on electric his start was with the Destinations. Both have also has participated in praise bands and local choirs. To round out their sound both Robin and John have also participated in Jazz groups. They have been circulating with their Irish music at nursing homes and retirements homes.
