Claudia Pellegrini, whose work The Philadelphia Inquirer has called “mesmerizing,” was born and raised in Madrid, Spain. She began her violin studies at age five, was an Honor Conservatory Graduate by seventeen (Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid, Spain), a Master’s Graduate by twenty-three (Temple University, Philadelphia), a Songwriting Competition Finalist by twenty-four (VH1 2003), and a published violinist-producer-songwriter-vocalist by twenty-six.
She has studied with Zakhar Bron, Sergei Fatkulin and Kim Fisher, among others. In her career, Claudia has worked with the some of the greatest (Pinchas Zukerman, Yehudi Menuhin, Michael Tilson Thomas, etc.) and she has performed with several orchestras in the Philadelphia area (such as Lancaster Symphony, Symphony in C, Vox Amadeus, Philadelphia Virtuosi, Bay Atlantic Symphony, Pottstown Symphony, Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra, Delaware Symphony, etc). In 2003, she received the Albert Tashjian Award for Excellence in Violin Performance.
Claudia has a Teaching and Pedagogy Certificate by the University Complutense of Madrid, and she has a vast experience as a teacher and as a performer, with over eighteen years as an educator in Europe, the U.S. and Puerto Rico. She has worked as a Music Teacher at Temple Music Prep (Philadelphia), The Music Workshop (Berwyn, PA), The Philadelphia School, Nelly Berman Music School (Haverford, PA), Instituto de Musica y Arte de Puerto Rico (San Juan, PR), and Saint John’s School (San Juan, R) where she created the Strings Program in its entirety. Currently she is a member of the faculty at Philadelphia Youth Orchestra. Also a published music producer and composer, Claudia has an extensive catalog of more than seventy-five works in different genres, along scores short films and plays. Her song “Broken Down” was awarded a “Mention of Honor” by VH1’s “Song Of The Year” Competition.
Claudia was featured performing on the Spanish television show “Madrileños por el mundo,”which aired in every Spanish speaking country through the International Channel. She was also recently featured as a violinist and vocalist with the Flamenco-fusion group “Fusion Jonda,” performing on stage with superstar Rosario Flores (pictured at right) and legendary band El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico on their 50th Anniversary Tour.
Most recently, Claudia composed, produced and recorded the full music score for the children’s stage show Goldilocks (2015) and Peter Pan (2017) for which she was also Music Director. Both shows premiered to great success at the Broadway Theatre of Pitman, NJ. Claudia also orchestrated music for Musical Revue: Boogie Woogie Radio Hour, which premiered at the Hedgerow Theatre in January 2018. A new musical composed by Claudia (a version of “Pinocchio”), is set to premiere at Pitman in ovember 2018.
Claudia divides her time between performing, composing, teaching, and a variety of other musical projects.
