Steve Jewett is a guitarist/vocalist with vast experience playing an array of stringed instruments in multiple genres. Virtuosity, the product of talent and a great deal of hard work, is a given with Steve–but more importantly, he plays to connect with his audience. Itʼs all about connection!! Coming from a musical family, he began his journey at age 10. Though he played the violin in school orchestra, his heart was always with the guitar. Over the years he developed his ability to play in many genres, including classical, folk, blues, rock and jazz-infused popular music. Adding vocals enables him to lead bands as well as play solo performances. In 1999, he began a four-year study of Hindustani classical music under John Protopapas of South Africa, who studied in Dehradun, India, under Birendra Kumar Sen, a disciple of Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan. Steve plays the sitar for concerts, Indian weddings, festivals, and presentations in schools and colleges. His other instruments include mandolin, ukelele, drums and percussion. Steve Jewett was a recipient of Harrisburg Magazine Best Musician Award. He has been a teacher for many years at studios and at the Grace Milliman Pollock Performing Arts Center.
